Laura Lombardi
A jewellery designer since 2010, Laura Lombardi is known for her love of links. Instead of seeing the chain as just a means to hold a pendant, Laura Lombardi makes it the centrepiece of her designs. Whether gold, silver or a mix of metals and hues, it always makes an impact, without ever becoming too much. Laura Lombardi makes her jewellery chunky, too, reinterpreting traditional jewellery in a more contemporary and industrial way. It's a mix of genres and eras that reflects her life in the Big Apple as well as her Italian roots, resulting in highly personal designs. The creations are handmade in her New York workshop using recycled metals, not only to protect the environment but also because this is how she was able to give life to her first collections. At the time, she worked for a jewellery store and trained herself in jewellery design and creation. Her passion and determination meant she was a quick learner. From her very first designs, she imagined sculptural lines that stood out from what she was seeing in the windows of department stores. Chunky yet light, Laura Lombardi pieces are bold and exciting, with a vision of femininity that stands out from the industry norms. So instead of simply churning out the type of subtle chains to which we are accustomed, she makes them oversized. And rather than tiny hearts daintily positioned on your ears, her imposing earrings become the centrepiece of your look. And that's what we like so much. The bold style of Laura Lombardi is expressed without compromise in the Elena and Calle bracelets, the Portrait and Rafaella necklaces, and the Tesoro earrings.
