Staud
A young LA brand founded by Sarah Staudinger in 2015, Staud exudes all the sunshine and freedom you’d expect from the Californian city. Keen to offer affordable accessories and apparel with a confident style and quality finish, it quickly attracted a loyal clientèle across the US. Its ultra-colourful collections, with their sun-kissed muses and deliciously retro feel, were such a hit that the brand decided to expanded overseas. Impressed by its creativity, Monnier Paris team unsurprisingly wanted to include it in its selection of beautiful luxury brands.
Staud offers stylish handbags that are perfect for city looks. The very graphic Shirley tote makes a statement with its square handle, while the Mina and its strap made up of leather links shows all the creativity of the brand. The Moon and Limone designs come in surprising, original shapes, perfect for elevating a classic look. The Ollie bag, ideal for carrying around town, stands out from other baguette bags with the chunky link closure on its strap, for a bold and distinctive touch. But at Monnier, it's the Riviera range that really gets our pulse racing: colourful and elegant, it features a rainbow of leather panels delicately positioned side by side.
In addition to leather work, Staud is renowned for two other techniques: crochet and beads. The Anita Bucket and Ria bags and the Porte Tote bag are crocheted by hand, then adorned with the brand logo or colourful fruits for that heady summer feel. Beads, meanwhile, are generally associated with the Tommy bag, arguably Staud's most iconic design. Its shape may seem somewhat classic, but the different bead designs are as original as they are meticulously applied. From the quirky fruit salad design with lemons and peaches galore, to the ultra-colourful millefiori, and the scarlet lobster with its waves, we love Tommy as much as it amuses us.
